Year 3 Summer Term Home Learning

If you feel you need additional activities, please check our home learning page for lots of different ideas. 

Thank you for working hard on your home schooling. I appreciate that it is not easy and will be out of many people's comfort zone but your hard work benefits your children so much. Please keep safe and remember to have lots of breaks and fun when you can. 

 

 

 

WEEK 12 - Week from Monday 13th July to Friday 17th July

Thank you, Year 3, for all your lovely work and messages that you have sent over the last few months. It has been such a strange time and although I am disappointed that I haven't been able to spend the summer term with you as we would have normally, I am very much looking forward to seeing you all again in school in September. Please have a lovely holiday and when you come back in September we'll all be ready for the start of a brand new year!

  2. Daily Arithmetic - new for the last two weeks of term
  3. Assertive Mentoring (download here) for about 5 minutes daily. Answers included.
    Make sure you go through the answers and do any corrections before the end of the week.

    Summer Term Reading - Did you know that most (90% of) parents do not read a nightly bedtime story to their child? There are lots of reasons for this - mainly lack of time. As a parent myself, I completely understand. However, I would love it if everyone made a special effort to try to fit in a nightly bedtime story of your own choosing. For those not sure where to start, J.K. Rowling's latest book can be read for free here

    For those not sure where to start, J.K. Rowling (author of the Harry Potter books) is releasing her latest book - aimed at 7-9 year olds - for free, chapter by chapter. You can start with chapter 1 here. It can be read on smartphones, tablets or any other internet-enabled device.
    If you feel the need to shorten the school day by 15 minutes to make time for this, please do so. I hope you will be able to get into a really good habit that will help you bond further with your children and help develop their imaginations!

    The booklet is full of lots of different kinds of activities to help with writing, including reading, grammar and vocabulary exercises. Children can do as much of the booklet as they like from day to day, but I would like them to try to finish the booklet before the end of term. Note that we do not know if Year 3 children will be able to return to school before the end of term in July, but wherever they are learning I would like this to be their English focus.
