  3. Reading comprehension - download here - complete this by the end of the week.
  4. Daily quiet reading for 15 minutes ...OR...
Summer Term Reading - Did you know that most (90% of) parents do not read a nightly bedtime story to their child? There are lots of reasons for this - mainly lack of time. As a parent myself, I completely understand. However, I would love it if everyone made a special effort to try to fit in a nightly bedtime story of your own choosing.

For those not sure where to start, J.K. Rowling (author of the Harry Potter books) is releasing her latest book - aimed at 7-9 year olds - for free, chapter by chapter. You can start with chapter 1 here. It can be read on smartphones, tablets or any other internet-enabled device.
If you feel the need to shorten the school day by 15 minutes to make time for this, please do so. I hope you will be able to get into a really good habit that will help you bond further with your children and help develop their imaginations!

HALF-TERM WEEK - Week from Monday May 25th to Friday May 29th

This week is the scheduled start of Half-term.

We know from your feedback and photos that you have all been working extremely hard at home. You should feel very proud of what you have been able to achieve in these unusual circumstances.

Parents and children deserve a break from home-schooling. So, for this week, we will not be setting additional work. Use this week as a "breather week" to catch up on any work you haven't been able to complete, or simply to rest and recharge your batteries.

There is no compulsory work this week. If you do want to keep work ticking over, you can keep going with the daily maths and English challenges (below), or maybe take part in a project the you'd like to do yourself. There are ideas over on the whole school home learning page if you want to do this.

However, after two months of learning at home, you have ALL earned a break. Please make sure you take this chance to enjoy each other's company without the pressure of school work!

Take care of yourselves, we can't wait to see you back in school soon.

Mr. Costa.

Theme: 75th Anniversary of VE day

This Friday is the May Day Bank Holiday that the government moved from the traditional Monday (4th, the first Monday of May) to Friday (8th) to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE day. This is an excellent opportunity to discuss this hugely important event in British and European history with children.

There is a learning pack that can be found here: https://www.mrtdoeshistory.com/ve-day-key-stage-2. It includes reading activities, a video lesson and another activity.

This is an optional learning pack. Some children may have Science, Topic and RE projects still to finish and might not have time to work on this pack. However, if you would like to shorten one of the other projects or if your child has already finished one or more of them,  I am very happy for you to adapt your home learning to include this special VE day related learning. I am also happy for you to conduct your own project related to VE day if you wish.
